Perk up this summer and contour your ideal figure with a breast lift. Also known as mastopexy surgery, a breast lift procedure removes excess skin and tightens tissue to reshape, lift, and support a new breast contour. Make an appointment today with Dr. Connie Hiers in San Antonio to learn more about creating a more youthful appearance with firmer and rejuvenated breast shape and profile.

What Is a Breast Lift?

With age, weight loss, or pregnancy, our skin and body parts may begin to sag. To tighten and lift breasts, a breast lift, or mastopexy surgery, separates the sagging lower breast tissue from your muscles and places it higher to create a firmer, more youthful appearance. However, breast lifts do not enlarge the size of your breasts. So, if you’re interested in fuller breasts, consider breast augmentation and a lift. If you’re interested in smaller breasts, consider breast reduction and a lift.

Are You a Candidate?

If you’re looking to tighten your breast profile for a more youthful appearance, first consider your candidacy. You may be a candidate for breast lift surgery if you are:

Potential Risks

If you are a good candidate, Dr. Hiers will speak to you regarding all potential risks during an initial consultation. General risks involved with breast lift surgery may include:

Procedure

A breast lift is generally a one to two-hour long procedure during which incisions are made around the areolas to work with underlying tissue to reshape breasts. To begin, Dr. Hiers will administer general anesthesia. Then, Dr. Hiers will make incisions around the areolas to begin the procedure. Incision type and technique will be dependent on your breast size, position of your areolas, degree of sagging, and excess skin. After incisions are made, Dr. Hiers will lift and reshape breast tissue, reposition the areolas to the desired height, and remove and tighten excess skin in the area. Lastly, Dr. Hiers will close the incisions made following the natural contour of the breast.

Recovery & Results

During your recovery period, Dr. Hiers will ask you to keep bandages on the incisions. Also, you will need to wear an elastic bandage or support bra until your procedure follow-up appointment to make sure breasts are well supported as they heal.  The good news is your results are immediately visible, and as swelling resides, incision lines will fade. Full results are best visible in several weeks to a few months as your breasts continue to settle into place.
