Facial Fillers, Lip Fillers, and Botox® San Antonio

Do you have a few wrinkles you’d like to eliminate? Would like parts of your face, like your lips, to appear larger? Dermal fillers might be just what you desire to smooth out or as facial fillers without undergoing unnecessary surgery.

Dermal fillers work by increasing the size of the area in which they are injected. Many people, both men, and women use dermal fillers to smooth out wrinkles. In many cases, once the fillers are applied, the person appears younger. Other people use dermal fillers to plump up their cheeks or as lip fillers.

Who’s a Good Fit For Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers were not developed to remove deep-seated lines or wrinkles. But if you have a bit of laxity in the facial area or are just beginning to get crow’s feet, treatment with dermal fillers might be just what you need to perk up your look.

Types of Dermal Fillers

Here is a brief view of the types of dermal fillers and how they work.

Hyaluronic Fillers
Hyaluronic fillers are made from naturally occurring human sugar. Some of the most popular types of hyaluronic fillers remain:

• Juvederm
• Restylane
• Perlane
• Belotero Balance
• Elevess
• Prevelle Silk

Upon injection, these dermal fillers can fill areas of shadows on the face, lines around the nose, and the lines that run down the sides of the mouth. These types of fillers can also give volume to the cheeks and lips.

The improved appearance you get from these dermal fillers can last from about four months to one year.

Calcium Hydroxylapatite Microspheres
Calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres contain a chemical that is similar to some of the minerals found in the body. Radiesse is a calcium hydroxylapatite microsphere. The injection of this thick injectable can help you build up the chin area, make your jawline stronger, increase your cheek size or eliminate deeper wrinkles. Calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres last for about one year or longer.

Poly-L-lactic Acid
Poly-L-lactic acid is also known as the product Sculptra. Sculptra is a synthetic material that is biodegradable and is sometimes used in stitches. This product doesn’t give you the instant plumping and smoothness of the other dermal fillers. It will cause the body to create its collagen and plump up more naturally. About three to six injections are needed to complete the process. But the resulting fullness lasts for about two years.

Botox®
Botox® is an injectable, purified form of botulism toxin. Botox® injections cause the muscle under the skin to relax, which in turn smooths out the skin. Botox® is recommended for more severe lines in the face. Each treatment lasts for three to six months.
